If you’re setting Goodnotes up for a team or organization, there are two Goodnotes for Business plans:
- Goodnotes Teams is our cloud-based plan for organizations that want simple, cross-platform note-taking with central account management.
- Goodnotes Enterprise is our on-device plan for organizations with strict security or data-control requirements, deployed to managed iPad and iPhone devices via a license key.

How the plans differ
Goodnotes Pro is our plan for individuals. If you’re buying Goodnotes just for yourself, this is what you want: a single-person subscription with the full note-taking experience across your own devices, with nothing to set up or manage. Most people who accidentally land on a business plan at signup were actually looking for Goodnotes Pro. The two plans below are for organizations rolling Goodnotes out to a group.
Goodnotes Teams runs in the cloud. Your team members sign in with a Goodnotes account, their notebooks sync across all their devices through Goodnotes Cloud, and you manage everyone centrally from the Admin Console. That combination (broad device support plus central management) makes it the right choice for most organizations that want people up and running quickly across mixed devices.
Goodnotes Enterprise takes a different approach for organizations that cannot store notes in the cloud. Instead of individual accounts, the app is activated with a license key that you distribute to managed iPad and iPhone devices through your own Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform, such as Microsoft Intune or Jamf Pro.
There is no Goodnotes account and no Goodnotes Cloud sync. Your data stays within your own infrastructure, with backups written to your own WebDAV server, so nothing leaves your environment. This is the plan for regulated industries, security-conscious teams, and any organization that needs to keep note data fully under its own control.
Which should you choose?
Now we’ve covered all scenarios for each plan, the one real judgment call is Teams vs. Enterprise, and it isn't about team size, it's about whether your notes are allowed to touch the cloud at all. If cloud storage is fine (Teams needs it for cross-device sync), choose Teams. If your compliance or security policy rules out cloud storage entirely, Enterprise is your plan

Can we move from Goodnotes Teams to Goodnotes Enterprise later?
Yes. Many organizations start on one plan and move to the other as their requirements change. Because the two plans store and sync data differently, our team will help you plan the migration so no notes are lost. Contact us before you switch and we will guide you through it.
Does Goodnotes Enterprise support single sign-on (SSO)?
Access on Goodnotes Enterprise is controlled at the device level through your MDM rather than through individual accounts, so users do not sign in with SSO. If identity-based sign-in with SSO is important to you, Goodnotes Teams supports it through the Admin Console. Our team can walk you through the options for your setup.
Where is our data stored on each plan?
On Goodnotes Teams, your notes are stored securely in Goodnotes Cloud. Goodnotes uses third-party cloud providers (such as Amazon Web Services) to power the infrastructure for Goodnotes Cloud, and your data may be transferred to servers located outside your country, including outside the UK or EEA. On Goodnotes Enterprise, data stays entirely within your own infrastructure, with backups written to a WebDAV server that you control, so no note data is sent to Goodnotes.
