The start of the new year brings a fresh batch of updates to Goodnotes, focusing on giving you more control over your notes, faster ways to navigate your library, and smoother workflows across devices.

New note-taking tools

Create images with Goodnotes AI

Goodnotes AI can now generate doodles, diagrams, and visuals in multiple styles, helping you quickly create anything from study diagrams to planner elements without leaving your notes.

Lock objects

You can now lock objects in Goodnotes, giving you a new way to manage layers, so you can lock, arrange, and duplicate elements with more control. Annotate freely on top of images and shapes, prevent accidental edits, and keep layouts intact, even in shared documents.

New Whiteboard templates

Download templates for Whiteboard from Goodnotes Marketplace, or choose them as an option when creating a new Whiteboard.

Faster navigation and access

Outline on Windows, Android, and Web

Users can now organize and navigate documents with multi-level outlines. Jump to any section in the document with outline links and create a multi-level hierarchical structure to manage large documents.

Open multiple tabs on Windows, Android, and Web

Switch seamlessly between multiple open documents using tabs, making it easier to multitask without losing your place.

New Apple widget for favorited documents and folders

Add a Favorites widget to your home screen to quickly open documents, jump into your library, or access actions like QuickNote and Search with a single tap.

New keyboard shortcuts

New shortcuts make it faster to create documents, navigate tabs, and perform common actions, helping you stay in your flow.

  • Cmd + Shift + N (QuickNote)
  • Cmd + Option + N (New Notebook)
  • Cmd + N (New Window)
  • Cmd + Shift + W (New Whiteboard)
  • Cmd + Shift + T (New Text Document)
  • Cmd + W (close tab and jump to the next one)

Language and audio improvements

Search your live transcriptions and summaries

You can instantly find what you're looking for in your audio recordings by simply searching your transcripts.

New documents adopt default device language

The default name of newly created documents now automatically adopt your device’s language by default, reducing the need for manual edits.

Thai transcription now available in audio recordings

A much anticipated feature from our Thai users: Audio recordings now support real-time Thai transcription across all tiers, allowing you to capture and review spoken content directly in your notes.

Enhanced audio transcriptions

Pro and AI pass users can regenerate transcription and summaries, making it easier to refine and revisit recorded content

Improved importing and file management

Smoother import experience on iOS

Importing files is now more reliable and consistent across devices, including when working with shared documents.

Improved file reordering

Reordering files during import is now more responsive, so you can organize your content with confidence.

Improved tools and workflow

Improvements to multi-select on Windows, Android, and Web

Selecting multiple items in your library is now easier, with support for click-and-drag using a mouse pointer.

Toolbar customization now on Windows, Android, and Web

You can now customize your toolbar on XP to add, remove, and rearrange tools to match your workflow.

Customize folder colors

From nine colors in a full spectrum, you can now choose any color for your folders, making it easier to organize projects or subjects without being limited to preset options.

Default pen states in Windows, Android, and Web

Goodnotes now remembers your last-used tool, so you can pick up right where you left off instead of defaulting to the lasso.
