Hi, my name is Steph.

I'm the Digital Innovation Lead at ACS Egham. Today I'm going to be showing you the Elements tool in Goodnotes. I use this tool in a few ways along with students. One of the primary ways is for creating images I want to use again, or could also be for personalization purposes.

So let's jump into the Elements tool, which is this one here. If I click on this twice, I'll get my Elements pop-up. From here, along the bottom, you can scroll and see different categories. The ones that come with Goodnotes are here. There are some stamps, Back-To-School ones, and shapes, or you can also create your own categories. And I have done so here. So I'll show you how to import some from your groups here, and also then show you how to create your own.

For example, if I wanted to add in something from here, I would just click on the Elements tool and click on the element I wanted. Once it's inside, you can resize and move it around like so. Let's try one from the Maths category. I'm going to pop in this chapter again. Move it around to resize.

You can also create your own elements, which I think is a great way for giving students the capabilities of writing something; for example, it could be a maths formula, and then having the ability to save that as an element and reuse it again in a different note.

So I want to write out something that a student might need to remember, I’m going to do pi, and to create an element, once you're happy with your design, you go to the lasso tool, lasso around your image, click and hold, go to the three dots, and then click on "Add Element." I want to add this to the Maths category. So if I delete this just to show you how to get it back again, and click Elements, and inside Maths, you can see that my element has appeared here.

So I can create my own. I can use ones that I don’t have already imported. If there are some that you have found, maybe online, or maybe someone has saved one of their own, and you've got a version, you can also import some into Goodnotes.

Go back to Elements and go to category. I'm going to click this one. On the top left-hand corner, there's a little pen. So click this, and then you can start to edit your collection. You can rename it at the top. So I'm just going to put "New Collection" and then import from the bottom right-hand side. In here, I’ve got these saved in my files. So let’s just add one of these. It’s probably one less import for one, this one, so we have a bit more of a collection.

You can also add photos on the left-hand side in the same way. So I'm going to click Done. And then I want to add this purple part here. I can add in as I go. Let's add in the same from here. So students and staff can start to personalize this, which is great.

And I’ve also used it where I saved a piece of text. So if I go back into my menu and I go to this reflection piece, this is a question that I'd ask students for reflection, and I got them to save it as an element because we reflected on it every week. So instead of them rewriting it out, I got them to make their own element here.

So hopefully that's given you a quick tour on how to use Elements for creativity and organization, and I hope you found it useful.
