The Company
Good Notes began when Kerry Robb had an idea. A graphic designer by trade, she’d long had an obsession with beautiful stationery. But she didn’t like the thought of trees being chopped down just so she could send pretty notes in the mail. So she started thinking about how paper goods could be better. Much better. Kerry wanted her paper goods to be, well, good.
When her daughter Olivia was born in the summer of 2009, Kerry and her husband Ted, received many well wishes and congratulations in the mail. While the sentiments were welcome, she noticed how few of the cards that arrived were made from recycled paper. A few months later, Kerry started using her baby’s nap times to start putting together a plan. She knew several artists from her design days, and contacted them about the project. So many were interested that the body of work Kerry was able to choose from was incredible. She also asked each artist what causes were important to them, and together the artists worked with Kerry to select a charity to be associated with each note card. The idea was that when a note was sold, a portion of the profits would go to both the artist and the charity. Kerry had found a way to produce beautiful, environmentally responsible note cards while supporting artists and giving to charity. This led to the company’s four-word mission: Good Paper, Good Deeds.
